I would suggest to make a new physical frame for this painting, with vertical strips (panels) that would partially cover the original painting. This frame would turn the painting into a tricenorama.
Triscenorama is a technique that merges three images into one, revealing different visuals depending on the viewing angle. Common in 19th-century religious art, it allows for layered storytelling. I would add two new images while keeping the original clearly visible.
According to the initial plan, I would add a view of a departing plane and a deconstructed and abstracted visual of the original painting. I divided Viktor Karrus’ painting into 600 squares and placed these squares one after the other in a chromatic order, so that the final image’s proportions would remain the same as the original.
I would like to install an LED sign under the painting. The running text could convey the following message:
“I wish I could time-travel with an airplane so I could bring the past to the past, the future to the future, and free the present from all its tensions.”
